I visited Wikipedia to find the Republican primary & caucus results. I tabulated the reported vote subtotals and tabulated them. It appears that Senator McCain received 7,908,469 votes. The total vote reported at Wikipedia is 18,199,065. 7,908,469 voted for McCain, 10,290,596 voted for someone else....
